About The Hurrah Players Camps

Come be a Star at Hurrah and learn a little bit about all the things that go into a Musical Theater performance! These interactive camps will have fun show themes and our younger campers will get a sampler in all it takes to be in a show.

Summer Session 1: June 20-July 1

If you do not see your camp session option available please call to see if there are some spots still open. We will end online enrollment as the camps fill up and switch to enrollment by phone.

Spring Break Camp

Time: 9am - 3:30PM (Ages 5+)

Camp Date: April 11-15

Come be a Star at Hurrah and learn a little bit about all the things that go into a Musical Theater performance! This one week camp is a sampler of Musical Theater, Dance, and Theater 101. 
 
Camp is held at he Hurrah building in Downtown Norfolk. Located across from Chrysler Hall on the corner of St. Paul’s Blvd. and Charlotte St. There are several local city parking garages within short walking distance. The performance day is held in our theater in the NEON DISTRICT at 122 W. Wilson Ave.
 
On the last day of Camp these Stars will shine at the presentation to  show you all the things they have learned throughout the week.

Camp info

8:40pm- 9am Drop Off 

3:30pm Dismissal

  • Camp is for ages 5 and up.
  • Aftercare until 5:30pm is available. *NO AFTERCARE ON PERFORMANCE DAY.
  • Campers will need to bring a non-perishable bag lunch and water bottle with them each day. We have a water fountain. Campers eat together outside.
  • Campers will need a towel to sit on while eating in the courtyard.
  • Only water is allowed outside of the lunch break. (Exceptions are made for medical conditions)
  • Campers should be dressed in clothes and shoes that are comfortable and allow them to move freely.
  • Please make Staff aware of any food allergies during enrollment.
  • Campers can wear sneakers or appropriate dance shoes. No sandals please.

Spring Break CAMP Pricing

Mid-season Membership fee: $25 (per family)

*Non-refundable. Valid through the end of 38th Season.

CAMP Tuition: $225 per camper

Optional After-Care (3:45pm - 5:30pm): $20 per afternoon or $80 for Monday-Thursday.

** Masks are optional for Campers **

As we draw closer to camp these guidelines will be updated to reflect changes in CDC and VDH guidelines.

** Camp During Covid**
 
  • All campers will be masked except for lunch time.
  • When eating, they will be socially distanced outside.
  • No campers will be allowed in camp if they display symptoms of a cold.
  • If camp needs to be cancelled by Hurrah, tuition will be refunded unless Virtual Camp is possible.
  • As we draw closer to camp these guidelines will be updated to reflect changes in CDC and VDH guidelines.
** We have made a few key changes to our Spring Break Camp due to Covid**
 
  • All classes will be socially distanced, and campers will wear masks.
  • Campers will stay in their classroom and teachers will move from room to room.
  • Campers will have their temperatures checked as needed in accordance with the Guidelines, if they display a temperature they will need to be picked up ASAP and will not be allowed to return until they go 72 hours without a temperature.
  • All Staff will wear face coverings.
  • We will disinfect the building after every day of Camp in accordance with the guidelines.
  • Campers will need to bring a lunch. Lunch will be eaten outside when possible.

No experience is necessary! This is an opportunity for young people to learn all about theatre with hands on activities and workshop style instruction. Campers will participate in Musical Theatre classes including Broadway Dance and Voice, Stage Acting, and Beyond the Stage Theater 101. The Last day of Camp will be a presentation of what the Campers have learned at the Hugh. R. Copeland Center in the NEON District. 

Camp is held at the Hurrah building in downtown Norfolk.
